Welcome to Taste of Wexford – The Captiva Food & Drink Guide, our personal collection of restaurants, cafés and bars around County Wexford that Carmel and I genuinely enjoy and are happy to recommend to our guests.

La Vista Wexford: A Long-Time Favourite of Ours

Carmel and I have been enjoying La Vista for many years, particularly for breakfast and lunch. Set on Level 3 of the National Opera House in Wexford Town, it combines excellent food and service with one of the best dining views in the town.

The food has always been amazing — fresh, tasty and expertly put together. It is somewhere we return to because the quality is consistently good, whether we are dropping in for breakfast or enjoying a relaxed lunch in town.

Breakfast and Lunch at La Vista

Breakfast at La Vista is a particular favourite of ours. There is something very enjoyable about sitting above Wexford Town with breakfast and coffee while looking out across the rooftops and harbour. Lunch is equally appealing, with fresh dishes and the same relaxed atmosphere.

Menus naturally change over time, which is exactly what we like to see from a restaurant using fresh ingredients, so we recommend checking La Vista’s current menu before visiting rather than relying on an old list of dishes or prices.

What We Ordered on Our Latest Visit

On our latest visit we tried the Katsu Haddock and the Smash Burger. The Katsu Haddock was phenomenal — beautifully cooked, full of flavour and one of those dishes you immediately know you would happily order again.

The Smash Burger was equally satisfying: generous, properly put together and exactly the kind of lunch that hits the spot. It was a great example of what we like about La Vista — familiar dishes done very well, with care and attention to detail.

It Is the People Who Make a Restaurant

Good food brings you through the door, but it is often the people who make you return. Tracey, Karen, Majella and the rest of the La Vista team have always looked after us exceptionally well.

The service is friendly, professional and attentive without ever feeling forced. After many years as customers, that genuine warmth and the way the team get to know their regular customers is a huge part of why we enjoy going back.

Breakfast With a View Over Wexford Harbour

La Vista’s setting is genuinely special. From the National Opera House you get breathtaking panoramic views across Wexford Harbour and the town. On a bright morning it makes breakfast feel like much more than simply stopping somewhere for something to eat.

Excellent Quality at a Very Reasonable Price

Another reason we return is value. For the quality of the food, the service, the surroundings and those views, we have always found La Vista very reasonably priced.

It strikes a lovely balance: somewhere that feels special enough for a leisurely breakfast or lunch, while remaining relaxed and accessible enough to visit regularly.
