Ramen Wexford: One of Our Family Favourites

Carmel and I have always loved Asian food, and Ramen Wexford has become one of those places we return to again and again. It is relaxed, friendly and consistently delivers exactly what we want: freshly cooked food, big flavours and very generous portions.

We have been there for casual lunch dates, meals with friends and, memorably, with the whole family when everyone was home from overseas at Christmas. It works just as well for two people as it does for a lively family get-together.

Where to Eat Asian Food in Wexford Town – Fresh to the Wok

One of the things we particularly like about Ramen is that the food is freshly cooked to order. You can see and taste that freshness in the dishes, and the kitchen is also very accommodating when you want to customise something to suit your own taste.

My personal favourite is the Chicken & King Prawn Thai Green Curry. It is packed with flavour, generous with both chicken and prawns, and exactly the kind of dish that keeps bringing me back.

Generous Portions – Bring an Appetite

The portions at Ramen are seriously generous. We regularly leave carrying a doggy-bag, which is no bad thing. There is something very satisfying about enjoying a great meal and knowing there is often enough left for another taste later.

The menu covers noodles, curries, wok dishes, sides and children’s options, so it is an easy choice when a group has different tastes. The team can also adapt dishes, and vegan versions of some dishes can be prepared on request.

A Great Restaurant for Families and Groups

The Wexford restaurant is much larger than you might expect from the street. There are lots of different nooks and areas inside, so it never feels like one enormous dining room, and there is also a very large outdoor area.

That makes it particularly useful for families and groups. We have always found the atmosphere informal and welcoming, and the staff friendly and helpful.

And Then There Is the Ice Cream…

One of Ramen’s nicest little touches comes at the end of the meal: the complimentary self-serve soft-serve ice cream cone. It is simple, fun and particularly popular with children — although we certainly would not suggest it is only the children who enjoy it.

Guests staying at Captiva Wexford regularly ask us for relaxed places to eat in Wexford Town that will suit a family or mixed-age group. Ramen is an easy recommendation. The food is freshly prepared, the portions are generous, there is plenty of choice and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

It is also somewhere we genuinely use ourselves rather than simply a restaurant we know by reputation. That is important to us: the places included in our Food & Drink Guide are places we have actually visited and are personally happy to recommend.
